| We have joined a marching jazz band. | | My new years resolution was to spend more quality time with my 2 daughters (aged 4&5) as since my son was born 4 months ago I never seem to have much time for my older children. 3 weeks ago we joined a marching jazz band and we are loving it. It gives us something to enjoy as a family and is also teaching my daughters discipline and learning a new skill too. | |
| | Can you dance? How did you learn? | | I'll admit right now that I can't dance. I envy people who can dance, I think it's a beautiful way to express creativity.A dance instructor tried to teach my husband and I how to do 'The Hustle' on our honeymoom. He came over to watch us and complimented my husband on how quickly he picked up the steps. He watched my steps and said'That's a great fake job you've got going there.'Can you dance and how did you learn? Where do you like to dance? In a club? Any advice for people like me who can't dance, other than stay off the floor? | |
| | | | Any Christian Musician's out there? | | I noticed this interest has no discussions at all, so I'll start one by asking? Are you a Christian musician? What do I mean? Here's a little background about me.
Before I was a Christian, I played in the bar circuit here in Florida for a number of years. The usual stuff, pretty much standard classic rock'n roll, oh yes I did play country,(and western) for a bit and there was that time I played in a jazz band too, don't forget the pirate band I was in.....hmmm!I was asked by a few friends to help them at a tent meeting one night about 6 years ago. It was a paying gig but we had to play this type of Christian Praise and Worship music. I've never heard the music nor had a desire to hear any of it, but since it paid $$$ I did it.
Long story short, that night changed my life literally! Actually it took another year and 1/2 before I got clean and sober and gave my life over to Christ. I continued to play the circuit but I never forgot the feeling I felt that winter night under the tent watching all those people praising and worshiping God!I eventually quit playing in the bars and such and started to do something more important with my music, call it a higher calling, or whatever.... | |
| | Where is the best place for a first date? | | Woah... woah... i dont know why i posted such question.
If you just look in my discussion... i just ask some things about first date.
;)Where is the best place for a first date?
I think the best place is a romantic cafe with mellow songs or jazz band live...
Since im a classical music and jazz lover, i do really like the restaurant or cafe that has such atmosphere...
I want also that place is not crowd..
Its the place that should have healthy food and not like spaghetty that looks yucks after you eat them, who knows after eating you maybe have another thing to do.
(you know what i mean)
Its nice to go to the garden with a very nice lamps and romantic candles....
With lake view or beach view... its also a very good place...
Because it moves the feeling more comfortable (thats what i think- i dont know others)I dont like to go to cinema at first date.
Its good for second or third... but never for my first date.
Its the first time to know one another, talk more...
watching how he talks... he walks... its something unforgettable
compare to look a person in the dark (cinema)

| | so discouraged | | i honestly believe that i don't think i can become a musician with all the discouragement i've been getting lately.Jazz Band has been complete hell, and there's some evidence to prove that:I had a test on Green Dolphin Street, no biggie, + improvisation. I prepared, spent an average of two hours working on this, for about oh I don't know, a week or two. And when it got time to step into the room where he held the test, apparently, I had practiced the whole timing wrong (Abersold play along goddamn), I started 6 times over, and I couldn't play it the way I wanted because he was just such an a s s, imposing the square page notation, which i had already memorized because of the many times i played it. He claims I didn't know the song enough to play it the way i wanted which was a jazzy in-time version, (excluding some nervous mistakes i made while doing it, he's a very intimidating person mind you). It was ridiculous, and I felt so inept, so stupid. My improvisational technique wasn't any better either. he stopped me in the middle of my solo, (i got lost in the chord changes apparently. i do that often when the tempo is fast and i lose track of where the chord progression is.... | |
| | Marriage Proposal: Do you still remember the day it happen | | I was reading a magazine yesterday and there is an article about marriage proposal that some guys have done. There is one guy that got a jazz band to meet his girlfriend and eventually he used it to help him do his marriage proposal. It’s kind of cute how this one guy propose to her girlfriend. Me too, I fancy the idea of being ask a marriage proposal in a unique way but I guess it will be years from now before it happen. I enjoy being single and marriage is not my priority right now; though someday I would like to have a man to propose to me in a romantic way.
How about you guys, Have you propose to someone? If yes, how did you do it? Do you still remember the day and the things that happen? Please comment and share your experience to us.

| | Do u like Kenny G Music? | | Hello Friends, Kenny G was in Bombay few weeks back for a concert. I like his music a lot. I always like to hear differant musical instruments and he is a tremendous saxophonist. Some info about Kenny G: Kenny was born in Seattle, Washington, and first came into contact with a saxophone when he heard someone performing with one on The Ed Sullivan Show. He learned how to play under the direction of local trumpeter Gerald Pfister and by practicing along with records (mostly of Grover Washington, Jr.), trying to emulate the sounds that he was hearing. At Franklin High School he failed to get into the jazz band when he applied, although was accepted the following year when he tried again. He also played for his high school golf team, a sport which he had loved ever since his older brother, Brian Gorelick, introduced it to him when he was ten years old.. Brian Gorelick is currently a music professor and choir conductor at Wake Forest University.Cheers,
