This is a long shot I know but anyway I know,but I thought I would put this question out there to you great mylotters and see what happens,I have recently started researching my family tree I have found out that my grandfather and great uncle on my mothers side, were well known jazz musicians originally from Trinidad,but who played great jazz music all over the world back in the 1920- 1950s,they settled in the UK after the first world war..not sure about the exact date.
They were the Blake brothers Cyril and George. I have found out they owned at least one club in UK called the jigs club.I have found out that my great uncle Cyril Blake cut a Live Jazz track at the jigs club in 1942.And my Grandfather George 'Happy' Blake also had a band which was called 'Happy Blake and his boys' but I have not been able to find any records that my grandfather made with his band.I also have found out that Cyril Blake was featured in the short cabaret musical 'At the Havana'(1940) Does any mylotters know if it is possible to get a copy of this film or does anyone know who else was in this film...long shot I know..There were many great jazz... | |
