| Something happened last night and I am still upset about it | | Late yesterday afternoon we decided to go down to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore to hear a band, New Orleans Jazz style band, The Junkyard soemthing or other, no I wasn't that impressed with them, my husband liked them, but they just weren't my cup of tea.....when you say New Orleans Jazz music, I think upbeat, Oh When the Saints go marching in type music, they did one song I kinda liked with an accordian Chicken Girl something or other...really upbeat song...Ok, I'm getting off track here.....But while I was sitting with my kids....someone came up from behind me and said 'excuse me sir', and first of all I'm not a sir, second of all it just hit me at the wrong time to be called a sir.I have a condition which causes me to not have hair, and sometimes people mistake me for a male when I am not....and last night was not the time to say that to me....I screamed at her (because the band was playing) that I was NOT a sir, and just because I don't have hair, didn't make me one either....The female that called me a sir, looked back at me, and just stared, which made me more upset.....and never once did she apologize... | |
| | Tears, smiles at Ed Bradley funeral | |
Nearly 2,000 people fill the stately Riverside Church to pay tribute to the CBS newsman. With the complicated melodies of the music he loved so much surrounding them, family and friends of Ed Bradley said good-bye to the 60 Minutes correspondent Tuesday with a three-hour service filled with life, love, and laughs. Nearly 2,000 people filled the stately Riverside Church on the edge of the Hudson River to pay tribute to Bradley, who died November 9 at age 65. They came from the wide spectrum of Bradley's life: from his youth as a Philadelphia sixth-grade math teacher, to his early days at CBS Radio and covering the Vietnam War, to his friends in jazz and other music and the many people he came in contact with as a globe-trotting correspondent. "He came on the scene in one of the most exciting times in American history, and he embraced what Oliver Wendell Holmes called 'the action and passion of his times,"' said Charlayne Hunter-Gault, who traveled from her home in Africa to be with Bradley in his final days. "He was, after all, the jazz master," said former President Clinton, one of the many interview subjects whom Bradley disarmed with his manner. "He always... | |
| | Why the New orleans saints are my favorite team? | | I think they are the best team because they won the super bowl and because they have a really fine man named Reggie bush on their but this is a personal reason why I like that team. Any one have a favorite team in mind? | |
| | Super Bowl 44 (New Orleans Saints vs.Indianapolis Colts) | | This Sunday Febuary 7th, 2010 at 6:00pm eastern standard time is the start of Super Bowl 44. Tell me why or why not you will be watching this game.I will be watching the game for the finger foods, drinks, half time show and the commercials. It does not matter to me who wins but since New Orleans has yet to win a ring and Indianapolis has it would be nice to see them win the Super Bowl. | |
| | Oldies and New Orleans | | I have found that I asociate many places with some sort of music. New Orleans, besides the beauty of Jazz is for me the song Jambalaya, sung by Brenda Lee. I´m the right age to have been mesmerized by one of the most beautiful voices of the 50s and 60s.
Yesterday, after listening to Jambalaya, I clicked to get the lyrics. There is a verse that has to do with New Orleans food. I understood only part of it. Could any of you help me.
Here it goes
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and file' gumbo I got "crawfish pie" but the rest escapes me. As I loved New Orleans the two times I visited (before the Katrina)and I love oldies, Brenda Lee, Jambalaya and cooking, understanding that verse became a must. DO HELP! Dictionaries were of no use.[em]cry[/em]
Take care every one! | |
| | New Orleans | | In April, I am going to New Orleans with my boyfriend and several friends. I really want to show my boyfriend the best parts of New Orleans. What do you think is a must see when you go? Any suggestions or ideas? | |
| | Patriots Vs New Orleans | | There was two things I learned from last nights football game against the Patriots and New Orleans Saints. The first thing is that the New Orleans Saints are for real. They put up 38 points on what is still considered to be an elite team and let up only 17 points showing their strength defensively especially having a banged up secondary. Brees impressed the audience with a brilliant performance that is one of the best performances on a national audience in a high profile game. The second thing I learned is that the Patriots dynasty may have finally come to an end. There has been no other dominant team in this decade than the New England Patriots. 3 Superbowl wins in four years winning it all in 2001, 2003, and 2004 as well as a Superbowl appearance in 2007. During the decade it included an undefeated season in 2007 and have racked up 6 division titles and 4 conference titles. They complete this strong showing with good-great offense and for the most part a solid defense that always seemed to make the big play. As of late the offense isn't nearly as good as the 2007 team and the defense is young and has problems facing strong passing attacks. Peyton Manning blew them away in the... | |
| | | | Don't miss New Orleans LA as a great vacation destination. | | We just took our first trip to New Orleans. What a great value for your money. We stayed in the French Quarter and were able to walk to the majority of attractions. The New Orleans power pass offers you a terrific value by providing entrance to a large number of local attractions and tours. You can ride the paddle boat on a two hour cruise on the Mississippi while having lunch and/or dinner. They have a great aquarium and IMAX theater. The River walk is beautiful and relaxing. The French market and flea markets are fun with lots of bargains awaiting. Don't miss out on a class at the Louisiana School of Cooking. Fun and delicious. Lots of historic houses and buildings to visit. We were there for 6 days and still couldn't get it all done. The only thing you need to rent a car or get a ride to are the bayou and plantation tours. The tour companies offer transportation to and from these events. I can't wait to return. The music on Bourbon St. was fantastic. Being out and about on Bourbon St. was great - I did not feel at all in any danger. Police presence was strong but not intrusive. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. I will be going back and I highly recommend... | |
